The Start of Part 2
So now that I've done a basic overview of three events I now need to choose just one to take further for this project (aww just one?)
I thought I'd go with walking down stairs because theirs more chance of people going down stairs than using a controller, plus I may get some interesting results with different groups and ages.
What I've done so far is that I've asked three people so far to actually think about when they walk down the stairs and give me some feedback. One of them said that they found it much more nerve racking and a bit scary than walking up stairs (especially when you concentrate and think about all that your doing) I also tried to inform them about little details they do when walking down stairs that I observed in them to see if that would affect their judgement, it kinda did.
I do need to do much more work with this but I think it's a good start........ maybe?

Sensory Ethnography Description 3 - Using A Pen
As I pick it up, my thumb presses the plastic body against my index and middle finger while they gently wrap themselves in place on the side and on top. My other two fingers at the end of my hand hold up everything as the pen begins to glide across the page, leaving behind a trail of black as I move it to my whim. The smell of ink becomes slowly present although still rather faint as the trail of black increases with every stroke, every movement, every pause. The sight of the white page before me becoming marked, showing me of what I have done begings to take hold and makes me aware of my actions.
This is just a very simple and everyday thing that we all do (especially students like me) I thought about it every time I wrote something for about a week, where dose the pen lie when I use it in my hand? what dose it smell like? feel like? I was also going to say taste like but I got out of the habbit of chewing on the ends of my pen a while ago and don't wan't to get into it again thank you very much

Sensory Ethnography Description 2 - Walking Down Stairs
The Feel of old wool brushes across the soles of my feet through my socks as my feet begin to decend down into nothingness. My hand reaches to the side and begins to glide along the wooden rail, smooth to the touch. I begin to count each step as I walk down further, the darkness begining to take hold of my eyes. The cold chill from beneath becomes stronger as I decend, the feeling of warmth from upstairs leaving me. My toes curl in order to feel the edge of each step, my feet hesitating untill they feel solid ground.
Sensory Ethnography Description 1 - Using A Controller
The vibrant blue outline peirces through a mess of thick black wires. My fingers wrap arround the sides with ease as I grip it in both my hands. The feel of soft Matt plastic at the back and smooth Gloss plastic at the frount, my fingers migrate to their places at each side. The shining light ammiting from the centre as the power comes on hitts my eye before it leaves my sight as I look towards the screen. The jolting vibrations being recieved through my sweety palms, assuring me of my actions as I play, begin to send a sensation all through my body. My mind racing as my fingers move all on their own, my heart pounding as the excitement takes me over. I am in another world entirely with nothing but the feel of buttons and vibrations to ground me.
This may be a bit mellow dramatic but I actually filmed myself playing a game to see how long it took me to zone out completely. My old controler from my PS2 was a limited edition and had inhanced vibration sensors so gaming was more intence (I use to loose feeling in my palms at the end of playing sometimes)
